It is quite a while since I updated my progress. I have made progress, although there have been some distractions. I decided that before putting my Shrimper back in the water, I should treat the spars to a lick of varnish (or really Cetol Filter 7 plus).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then with Lagom waiting for me in the marina, some good sailing weather arrived. That is the Isle of Portland off the port bow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the main reason, I haven’t posted new pictures is that I put in quite a few days of sanding and the result does not show on photographs. However, I have declared the hull fair. Time to start adding some finishing coats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next job was to stick a length of fishing line to the side. Or, to make it sound technical, to add a permanent mark for the boot topping as suggested by Roger Dongray. The boot topping marks the edge of the antifouling and for the Gallant Gaffer is 40mm above the waterline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see below, I taped the fishing line to the hull using my last level to get the right line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And below, the line is held in place by epoxy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
