The nice people from Irons Brothers dropped off a package for me this week. When I say dropped, I really mean it was lifted off the truck by forklift and moved to the front of my boat shed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keel for a Golant Gaffer is 750Kg of lead. I will not be moving that around until I am ready to fit in place. And then it will be an interesting challenge to figure out how to move it into position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interesting to consider how the boat will float with this weight of lead bolted to the bottom. Just a little less than 0.75 cubic metres of seawater weighs 750Kg. So I need 0.75 cubic metres of air to be below the waterline to support the keel. That works (thanks Roger Dongray, GG designer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh well, back to finishing the hull interior. Not too long to go there. It isn’t a great stage for photographs, but will share a view of the finish shortly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
