The nice people from Irons Brothers dropped off a package for me this week. When I say dropped, I really mean it was lifted off the truck by forklift and moved to the front of my boat shed.

The keel for a Golant Gaffer is 750Kg of lead. I will not be moving that around until I am ready to fit in place. And then it will be an interesting challenge to figure out how to move it into position.

Interesting to consider how the boat will float with this weight of lead bolted to the bottom. Just a little less than 0.75 cubic metres of seawater weighs 750Kg. So I need 0.75 cubic metres of air to be below the waterline to support the keel. That works (thanks Roger Dongray, GG designer).
Oh well, back to finishing the hull interior. Not too long to go there. It isn’t a great stage for photographs, but will share a view of the finish shortly.
