I can’t put it off any longer. It is time to start painting. My trepidation is about whether the finish is good enough. It is so hard to tell with the patchy colour of the resin, but running my hand over the surface, it feels like it is smooth.

The edge of Coppercoat provides a good line for masking.
I am using International Perfection Pro. Mixing is a bit like a chemistry lesson, 3 parts of base, 1 part of Converter, 0.4 parts of Activator; Pour the Converter into the Base and mix; pour the Activator into the Base & Converter and mix. I wasn’t sure how much I would need for a coat. It turned out to be 450ml of Base did the job.

When buying Perfection pro, you need to specify whether it will be applied by spray gun or roller (pain brush possible but not really recommended) and a different version is supplied. My finish will be Night Blue, so I chose the black undercoat rather than the white and am using a roller.

And here is the first coat applied.

I intend to have 3 coats of undercoat and 3 coats of top coat and ideally should apply coats of undercoat within 7 days. I can just about fit that in with scheduled grandchildren care. It is all go!
