Fear and trepidation, anxiety and worry. I think perfectly normal feelings when you have been working on a boat for “X” years and it is time to unscrew from the building frame, lift and turn her over – 600+ Kg of wood and resin. And today was the day!
To reduce the risk, I called in the experts. Well, my brother in law had never turned a wooden boat, but has a lot of experience (and equipment) for lifting. He brought along some help and equipment – chain hoists, strops and gantry kit. I brought along enough carpet to protect my paintwork
The picture below shows the gantry erected over the boat as we started the process.

And here is how it went….
I really like Time-Lapse video. It even looks like I work quickly.
Actually it was much easier than expected. The carpet allow us to rotate the boat once it was lifted by the strops.
The photograph below shows the boat sitting on blocks, but still held by the strops while I build a cradle underneath. The chain hoists allow me to adjust the levels laterally and fore and aft.

Now being upright, allows me to tale photographs of the top and interior. Almost looks like a boat!

Next step is to complete the cradle.
